Veteran actor Anil Kapoor has opened up about the sacrifices that came with his intense commitment to work, recalling how he reached the hospital late when his daughter Rhea was born and saying he has never been able to forgive himself for missing those precious moments.
During a heartfelt conversation with a contestant on his upcoming show, Anil reflected on the importance of making time for family.
“Bahut log kehte hain ki main apni family ke liye kaam karta hoon, lekin main bhi ab yeh seekh raha hoon ki family ko waqt dena kitna zaroori hai,” he said, explaining that he is also learning how important it is to spend time with family.
The actor went on to recall the birth of Rhea, saying that while he was around the same age as the contestant, he was shooting through the night and fell asleep before reaching the hospital.
“Jab main aapki umar ka tha aur Rhea paida hui thi, main hospital late pahuncha tha. Main aaj tak khud ko forgive nahi kar saka. Rhea ki delivery ho gayi thi aur main kuch waqt baad wahan pahuncha. Main poori raat shoot kar raha tha aur meri aankh lag gayi,” Anil recalled.
He also praised his sons-in-law for making time for both their families and professional commitments.
Anil, who married Sunita Bhavnani in 1984, has three children — Sonam, Rhea and Harshvardhan Kapoor. Reflecting on fatherhood, he said having a daughter is a bonus, and having two daughters makes it a “double bonus” for him.
“Having a daughter is a bonus, aur meri do daughters hain, Sonam aur Rhea, toh mere liye double bonus hai,” he said.
Anil Kapoor’s new show, ‘India Ke Top 1%: The Anil Kapoor Show’, is set to premiere on September 19 on Star Plus and JioHotstar.
