Adivi Sesh and Wamiqa Gabbi-starrer spy action thriller ‘Goodachari 2’ (G2) is reportedly set to hit theatres on February 5 next year, according to industry sources.
Directed by Vinay Kumar Sirigineedi, the film is a sequel to the 2018 Telugu spy thriller ‘Goodachari’. The upcoming project marks Sirigineedi’s directorial debut. He is also involved in its production.
The film has been awaiting an official release date, with sources claiming that the makers are now planning to bring it to theatres on February 5. The team is reportedly aiming to expand the scale of the franchise and offer a fresh take on the spy thriller genre.
Wamiqa Gabbi will be seen as Agent 116, while Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi is set to play a prominent role. Murali Sharma, Supriya Yarlagadda and Madhu Shalini are also part of the cast.
According to industry sources, Hashmi will share screen space with Adivi Sesh in the pan-India film and will reportedly have a parallel-lead role. Sources further claim that his character will not be a negative one.
The film is being produced by T.G. Vishwa Prasad and Abhishek Agarwal under People Media Factory, Abhishek Agarwal Arts and AK Entertainments. It is planned for a pan-India release in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.
Sesh, who plays the lead and has also scripted the film, had previously shared a belated birthday message for Gabbi on X. Praising her as a co-star, he described her as a talented, beautiful and professional lead actress of ‘G2’.
The 2018 original ‘Goodachari’, directed by Sashi Kiran Tikka, starred Sesh alongside Sobhita Dhulipala, Jagapathi Babu and Prakash Raj in pivotal roles.
While the original film was directed by Tikka, ‘Goodachari 2’ is being helmed by Sirigineedi.
