A woman was allegedly dragged on the bonnet of a car in Lucknow after she confronted a man, described as her boyfriend, over his presence at a park with another woman, according to reports.
The incident reportedly took place at Janeshwar Mishra Park in the Gomti Nagar area, where the man had allegedly arrived with a woman friend. After learning about it, the woman reached the spot and an argument broke out between the two, NDTV reported.
According to an eyewitness account, the woman attempted to stop the car and speak to the man, who was in the driver’s seat. The vehicle initially moved slowly, but the driver allegedly accelerated while she remained on the bonnet.
A video of the incident circulating on social media shows the woman lying across the front of the vehicle and repeatedly asking the driver to stop.
“I won’t die. Do whatever you want. Stop the car,” she is heard saying in the video while hitting the bonnet with her hand.
The footage purportedly shows the driver continuing to move the car with the woman on the bonnet. After the vehicle picked up speed, she fell from the front of the car, following which the driver allegedly fled the spot.
The woman sustained injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
A formal complaint has reportedly been submitted to the police on behalf of the woman. Police are searching for the accused with the help of the vehicle’s registration number, according to the report.
The incident comes amid reports of another road-related case in Greater Noida earlier this month, in which a man identified as Himanshu Rai was hit by a speeding vehicle while returning after purchasing a cake for his birthday.
Rai’s wife, who was with him at the time, told IANS that they had gone to buy a cake when a speeding car struck them.
“I was with him when the accident happened. We had gone to buy a cake when a car arrived at high speed, and the accident took place. The impact was so horrific, and everything happened so fast that I couldn’t comprehend it at first. There was a loud crash, and I couldn’t gauge what happened,” she said.
Rai is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.
