The Punjab Government will conduct a statewide Civil Defence Air Raid and Blackout Mock Exercise across all districts on November 27, 2026, at 8 pm to assess and strengthen the state’s preparedness for emergency situations.
According to an official spokesperson, the exercise will begin with a two-minute air raid warning siren featuring a high-low pitch. A simulated blackout will then be enforced in areas identified for the exercise by the respective Deputy Commissioners-cum-Controllers, Civil Defence.
During the blackout, residents in the identified areas will be required to switch off all non-essential lights. Essential services, however, will continue to function during the exercise.
At the conclusion of the mock drill, an “All Clear” signal will be sounded through a continuous high-pitch siren for two minutes, marking the end of the exercise.
The exercise will also include simulated fire response operations, search and rescue operations, first-aid and medical assistance, evacuation of injured persons, and traffic and crowd control measures.
These activities are aimed at assessing the effectiveness of the Civil Defence system and strengthening coordination and response mechanisms during emergencies.
The state government has advised the public not to panic, stressing that the exercise is a routine drill to test Civil Defence preparedness.
Residents in the identified areas have been asked to remain calm, cooperate with authorities and follow instructions issued during the mock exercise.
