The Punjab unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will take out its third and fourth ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra’ from Fazilka and Talwandi Sabo on September 20 and 21 respectively, with Union ministers Arjun Ram Meghwal and Shivraj Singh Chouhan scheduled to flag off the two yatras.
According to BJP Punjab general secretary and Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra convener Rajesh Bagha, four yatras will be taken out from September 18 under the slogan, “BJP’s resolve, eliminate drugs.”
The first yatra will begin from Pathankot on September 18, while the second will start from Fatehgarh Sahib on September 19. The third yatra will be flagged off by Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal from the Sadiki Border War Memorial in Fazilka on September 20.
Bagha said Meghwal would first pay homage to the martyrs at the Sadiki Shaheed Memorial and address a public gathering before flagging off the yatra.
The fourth yatra will begin from Takht Sri Damdama Sahib at Talwandi Sabo on September 21. Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini will pay obeisance at the Sikh shrine before launching the yatra.
Bagha said the yatras would highlight three issues that the BJP identifies as major challenges for Punjab — the drug menace, law and order, and alleged corruption across different levels of governance, from tehsils and police stations to the Chief Minister’s Office.
Route of Third Yatra
The third yatra, beginning at the Sadiki Border War Memorial in Fazilka on September 20, will pass through the Assembly constituencies of Fazilka, Balluana, Abohar, Jalalabad, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Malout, Gidderbaha, Jaito, Kotkapura, Faridkot, Bagha Purana, Nihal Singh Wala, Dharamkot, Moga, Jagraon, Raikot, Dakha, Malerkotla, Amargarh, Gill, Sahnewal and Ludhiana City before concluding in Jalandhar.
Route of Fourth Yatra
The fourth yatra will commence from Talwandi Sabo on September 21 after paying obeisance at Takht Sri Damdama Sahib. It will travel through Talwandi Sabo, Maur, Rampura Phul, Bhucho Mandi, Bathinda Rural, Bathinda Urban, Mansa, Sardulgarh, Budhlada, Bhadaur, Barnala, Mehal Kalan, Dhuri, Sangrur, Sunam, Dirba, Lehra, Shutrana, Nabha, Patiala Rural, Patiala Urban, Sanour and Rajpura before concluding in Jalandhar.
