Mumbai, October 22, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Actor and Cine and TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA) president Poonam Dhillon has denied allegations of financial irregularities involving the association’s fixed deposits worth around Rs 90 lakh, asserting that all expenditure is accounted for and financial records are available to executive committee members.

Responding to allegations raised by former office-bearer Upasana Singh and actor Nagma, Dhillon said the association’s functioning had been affected after its bank accounts were frozen, disrupting administrative work and welfare activities.

“They havent neen working for ourselves. Its not like Poonam Dhillon, Padmini Kolhapuri or anyone else has taken a single rupee from the CINTAA account. All the money that has been spent is accountable. Every penny is accountable. And we give those accounts every month,” she said.

Dhillon maintained that the association regularly presents its accounts to the executive committee and makes them available on its website. She said the September accounts had also been presented and denied that any financial information had been concealed.

Addressing questions over changes to CINTAA’s constitution, Dhillon said amendments followed a formal process involving resolutions passed at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and approval by the relevant registrar.

“How can we not do what we want? Our AGM takes every decision. Resolution is passed. After the resolution is passed, a change is brought in our constitution. That constitution goes to the registrar. We are answerable to the registrar of our labour. He stamps it. Only then can there be a change,” she said.

Dhillon added that the decision in question was taken at the 2025 AGM, when Upasana Singh was serving as secretary. She said Singh had announced the decision at the meeting.

The controversy centres on allegations that Dhillon and Padmini Kolhapure broke CINTAA’s fixed deposits and transferred funds despite restrictions linked to the dispute over the association’s management.

Singh has claimed that accounts across five banks were frozen after the previous committee was dissolved and that the funds were supposed to remain inaccessible until a court order recognised the new committee. She alleged that an account was subsequently opened and money from fixed deposits worth around Rs 90 lakh was transferred into it.

The allegations remain disputed, with Dhillon maintaining that the association’s expenditure is fully accounted for.
