Mumbai, October 16, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Actress-turned-producer Debinna Bonnerjee believes women continue to face challenges in professional spaces, including the entertainment industry, where they are sometimes taken less seriously. However, she feels attitudes are gradually changing and that clear communication and confidence can help women navigate such situations.

Debinna, who has ventured into film production with husband and actor Gurmeet Choudhary, spoke about her experience behind the camera, the challenges of being a female producer and the making of their upcoming romantic drama Tum Mere Ho.

“I think it happens everywhere. Women are sometimes taken a little less seriously. People feel that they will make the decisions, but I think things are changing. Ultimately, it is about how you handle situations,” Debinna said in an interview.

She added that working alongside Gurmeet and another female-led production company had made the experience more collaborative.

“Our other producer, Rewa Creatives, is also led by a woman. I feel we are very strong. We put our thoughts across very clearly. What we want is what we want, and there should not be any compromise,” she said.

Debinna also spoke about how her production experience has changed her perspective on actors and filmmaking. She admitted that she now has greater respect for producers and the many people working behind the scenes to keep a film on track.

“As actors, we never really bothered about what the producer was going through. Now I genuinely feel that acting is a difficult job as well,” she said, adding that actors often have to adjust because even a small disruption can affect the rhythm of a film.

She said producers constantly work to ensure that actors have the right environment to deliver their performances and that every department functions smoothly.

On Tum Mere Ho, Debinna said the idea of creating a film that would allow Gurmeet to explore his romantic side came from the actor himself.

She said Gurmeet enjoys action but also wanted to showcase his romantic side on screen. After not finding the kind of script he was looking for, he decided to create a project himself, a decision she supported.

“I would never take credit for saying that I thought of it for him. He thought of it himself, and as always, I supported him,” she said.

Tum Mere Ho stars Gurmeet Choudhary and Isha Malviya and marks Gurmeet’s debut as a producer under DebGuru Films, in collaboration with Reva Creative House. The film also features Anushkaa Luhar and Shaan Grover.

The intense romantic drama, which marks Isha Malviya’s Bollywood debut, is scheduled to release on October 23, 2026.
