Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan on Sunday said the state government had fulfilled all the promises made to the people and remained committed to addressing their concerns and resolving individual grievances.
Highlighting the government’s welfare initiatives, Sandhwan said the introduction of the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna (MMSY), which provides free health coverage of up to Rs 10 lakh, had offered significant financial relief to people across the state.
He said the scheme was aimed at ensuring that families do not have to face financial distress because of high medical expenses. The broader objective, he added, was to promote the well-being, prosperity and happiness of the people of Punjab.
Sandhwan also highlighted the government’s efforts to curb corruption through the ‘Easy Registry’ initiative. He said the initiative had helped check bribery and exploitation in land records and property registration, thereby providing relief to the general public.
Focusing on youth and sports development, the Speaker said the government had made significant contributions to promoting sports in Punjab. He highlighted the continued success of ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan’ and said the state would host the Asian Hockey Champions Trophy in the near future.
Sandhwan said participation in sports helps inculcate discipline and contributes to a healthier lifestyle. He also described sports as an important means of addressing social challenges, including drug addiction, by encouraging young people to pursue healthy and productive activities.
Reiterating the government’s long-term vision for Punjab, the Speaker said several issues that had remained unresolved for decades had been addressed.
He assured the people that the government would continue to listen to their concerns and work towards resolving public grievances in a timely manner.
