Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday announced tablets for all 400 government law officers and Rs 5 lakh cashless health insurance for all practising advocates in the state.
The Chief Minister also announced a multi-level parking facility with a capacity of 10,000 vehicles for lawyers of the Allahabad High Court, according to a government statement.
Addressing a gathering in Prayagraj, Adityanath said the state government was also funding the construction of lawyers’ chambers in 12 districts that previously lacked such facilities. He further announced that the fees paid to law officers representing the state in courts had been increased by more than 50 per cent.
Emphasising the importance of public confidence in constitutional institutions, Adityanath said good governance depended on earning and retaining the trust of citizens.
“Good governance depends on public trust. It is essential for achieving the goals of good governance that the last person in the queue can also experience a sense of pride with trust in constitutional institutions,” he said.
The Chief Minister said citizens’ faith in the judicial system was essential for the effective functioning of the democratic system and could be strengthened only through timely and transparent delivery of justice, coupled with institutional accountability.
Adityanath said the government was accelerating the digitisation of court documents and records while continuing to strengthen judicial infrastructure.
He also appreciated Allahabad High Court Chief Justice Arun Bhansali’s efforts to expedite construction of integrated court complexes in 10 districts that did not have their own district court complexes.
Meanwhile, Adityanath participated in Lucknow in the 50th Foundation Day celebrations of the Uttar Pradesh Lokayukta Organisation. On the occasion, the Lokayukta Administration’s information booklet and a Golden Jubilee Commemorative Volume were released.
The Chief Minister assured the organisation of continued government support and stressed that greater integrity, transparency and honesty in governance would help achieve better outcomes in the pursuit of good governance.
