Sushmita shared a series of pictures featuring Alisah and other family members on Instagram. In her birthday message, the actress recalled welcoming Alisah into her life 17 years ago and said she named her “God’s precious gift”.
“Happy Birthday Shona @alisahsen_ A beautiful, thoughtful, kind and generous soul… one, that a very loving God gifted me on this day, 17 years ago… I named her ‘God’s precious gift’ ALISAH,” she wrote.
The actress also expressed pride in the person Alisah has grown into, saying she believes her daughter will become a gift to the world and humanity.
Sushmita added that she remains in awe of Alisah’s simplicity and the grace she sees in her, before signing off with a loving birthday wish and “Maa”.
Sushmita is the mother of two adopted daughters. She adopted her first daughter, Renee Sen, in 2000 at the age of 24, while Alisah joined the family in 2010.
On the professional front, Sushmita was last seen in the third season of Aarya, the crime-thriller series created by Ram Madhvani and based on the Dutch series Penoza. The show follows Aarya, a woman who turns to the criminal underworld to protect her family and avenge her husband’s murder.
The series has also received an International Emmy Award nomination in the Best Drama Series category.
Sushmita’s other notable works include Biwi No. 1, Sirf Tum, Filhaal, Aankhen, Main Hoon Na, Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya?, Aarya and Taali, in which she portrayed transgender activist Shreegauri Sawant.
