Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan are set to revive their popular on-screen pairing, and Akshay added a sinister twist to his birthday greeting for Saif on Sunday while promoting their upcoming film ‘Haiwaan’.
Akshay shared a promotional video on Instagram in which he is seen sitting on a chair and lighting a candle placed on a cupcake. He then wished Saif in character, saying, “Mera hero hai wo, mera hero hai wo. Happy birthday, Saif from Haiwaan,” before breaking into an eerie laugh.
His caption carried another warning: “Happy Birthday, Saif. Have a great one… while you can. Kyunki #Haiwaan aa raha hai.”
‘Haiwaan’ marks the reunion of Akshay and Saif after their last appearance together in the 2008 film ‘Tashan’. While the film failed commercially and received a mixed critical response, its music was well received.
The upcoming film went on floors last year. Akshay had earlier shared a behind-the-scenes video featuring himself, Saif and director Priyadarshan in conversation on the sets.
The makers have also released a teaser that builds an ominous atmosphere through silhouettes, shadows and brief visual glimpses, hinting at a dark and intense story. The teaser appears to suggest that Saif plays a visually impaired character.
Directed by Priyadarshan, ‘Haiwaan’ also stars Boman Irani, Saiyami Kher and Shriya Pilgaonkar in pivotal roles.
The film is produced by Venkat K. Narayana and Shailaja Desai Fenn under KVN Productions and Thespian Films. ‘Haiwaan’ is scheduled for theatrical release on September 11, 2026.
