Actress Madhoo has recalled an episode that, she said, reflects veteran actor and politician Hema Malini’s ability to move forward in life, revealing that the BJP leader returned to Parliament the very day after her elder daughter Esha Deol’s wedding.
Speaking exclusively to IANS, Madhoo said Hema Malini’s approach to difficult moments has long inspired her.
“When Esha got married, the very next day, she went to Parliament, and she misses Esha. Mothers and daughters are soul sisters. It is not easy when the daughter leaves and goes, and the next day to resume a normal life, but that is Hema Ji. She carries on with life, moves on. So she is amazing as a human being. She inspires me,” Madhoo said.
The Roja actress also recalled how Hema Malini dealt with a robbery at her home. According to Madhoo, Hema reported the incident to the police and resumed her regular routine soon afterwards.
“Even after something big got stolen from her house, she went to the police station, made the complaints, and the second day she was out traveling,” Madhoo recalled.
When Madhoo asked Hema Malini about her response to the incident, the veteran actress reportedly replied, “What to do? Maybe in my previous birth, I owed it to him. If they find it, they will give it to me.”
Esha Deol married businessman Bharat Takhtani on June 29, 2012. The couple remained together for 11 years before announcing their divorce in early 2024. They have two daughters.
Madhoo is Hema Malini’s first cousin. Her father, P. Raghunathan, is Hema Malini’s uncle. Despite their family connection, the two actresses have never appeared together in a film.
Madhoo made her Bollywood debut opposite Ajay Devgn in Phool Aur Kaante in 1991. Her other notable films include Roja, Yoddha, Diljale, Pehchaan, Jaan Se Pyaara and Elaan.
