Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday thanked several world leaders for their Independence Day greetings and reiterated India’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and partnerships with their respective countries.
Responding to French President Emmanuel Macron’s greetings on X, Modi said, “Thank you for your warm wishes, my friend! Emmanuel Macron.”
The Prime Minister also thanked Nepal Prime Minister Balendra Shah, stressing India’s commitment to deepening the “multifaceted and age-old civilisational ties” between the two countries for the mutual prosperity and well-being of their people.
Responding to Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu, Modi said he hoped the bonds of friendship between India and the Maldives would continue to strengthen.
He also thanked Slovak President Peter Pellegrini for his greetings and said India looked forward to further strengthening the Comprehensive Partnership between India and Slovakia.
Responding to Bhutan Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, who addressed Modi as his “elder brother” in his Independence Day message, the Prime Minister said India deeply cherished its “special and enduring partnership” with Bhutan and noted that the relationship continued to grow stronger.
Modi also acknowledged the Independence Day greetings from Rabi Lamichhane, former Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister of Nepal. He said India remained committed to strengthening the deep bonds of friendship between the two countries for mutual progress and prosperity.
India celebrated its 80th Independence Day on Saturday, marking eight decades since the country gained freedom from British rule in 1947.
