Actor Ranveer Singh has begun shooting for his upcoming film ‘Pralay’ in Mumbai, marking his first project after the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) revoked its non-cooperation directive against him.
The development comes as Ranveer continues to ride high on the success of ‘Dhurandhar’. The actor is now preparing for the ambitious zombie apocalypse thriller, which is being shot at live locations across Mumbai and its surrounding areas.
FWICE had issued the non-cooperation directive against Ranveer in May after his reported exit from Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Don 3’. Under the directive, more than four lakh film workers associated with the federation were instructed not to work with the actor.
The federation subsequently withdrew the directive on June 3 following pressure from sections of the film industry. Ranveer had also served a notice to FWICE.
‘Pralay’ is directed by Jai Mehta, known for ‘Lootere’ and for co-directing ‘Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story’ with Hansal Mehta. The film features Kalyani Priyadarshan, known for ‘Lokah’, as the female lead.
Set against Mumbai’s backdrop, the film is billed as a survival story unfolding amid the threat of an apocalyptic catastrophe. It follows characters battling extreme circumstances while confronting questions of survival, courage and instinct as the world approaches the brink of destruction.
The makers are reportedly shooting at real-world locations in and around Mumbai to capture the physicality and unpredictability of the setting.
‘Pralay’ will also be Ranveer’s primary project following the success of ‘Dhurandhar’ and ‘Dhurandhar 2’.
On the personal front, Ranveer and his wife, actress Deepika Padukone, are expecting their second child. The couple announced the pregnancy in April, sharing a social media post featuring their daughter Dua holding a positive pregnancy test.
