Bengaluru City Police have arrested a 25-year-old security guard from Bommasandra Industrial Area for allegedly planning an attack targeting the Pakistan Army and for suspected links with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), according to a police press release.
The accused has been identified as Asaful Malik, son of Abed Malik. Police said Malik is currently residing in Jigani, Bengaluru, and is originally from Naupara village in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal.
According to the Hebbagodi Police Station release, Malik was detained from the Bommasandra Industrial Area following information that he was allegedly planning an attack against the Pakistan Army. The area falls under the jurisdiction of Hebbagodi Police Station in the Electronic City Division.
Police said that during questioning, Malik allegedly told investigators that he wanted to take revenge against the Pakistan Army over what he described as atrocities against mosques and civilians in Pakistan. He also reportedly referred to the Israel-Palestine conflict and alleged that the Pakistan Army supported Israel.
The police release stated that Malik allegedly came into contact with Imran Ahinder, described by investigators as a TTP member based in Afghanistan.
According to police, Malik allegedly joined the organisation with the intention of targeting the Pakistan Army and sought to travel to Afghanistan with Ahinder’s assistance. He had reportedly applied for a visa but could not make the journey.
Investigators also allegedly recovered messages and audio recordings from Malik’s mobile phone which, police said, indicated an intention to carry out revenge attacks against the Pakistan Army.
A case has been registered at Hebbagodi Police Station as Crime No. 423/2026 under Section 113(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police said further investigation is underway, including examination of electronic evidence and other aspects of the case.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of Narayan, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Electronic City Division, and Satish K.M., KPS, Assistant Commissioner of Police.
The arrest team included Hebbagodi Police Station Inspector Somashekar G, PSIs Srikanth Naik and Ayyappa R.V., ASI Mahanta Gowda, and police personnel Mohan K.K., Vrishabendra, Santosh, Praveen, Venugopal, Nagesh, Ashok Talageri and Anand.
Police listed Malik’s present address as Keraprakash Building near APC Circle, Jigani, Bengaluru, and his permanent address as Naupara village in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. His occupation was listed as security guard.
The allegations remain part of the ongoing investigation, with further details expected as investigators examine the evidence and circumstances surrounding the case.
