Television actor Angad Hasija has opened up about the long working hours in the television industry, saying schedules have improved considerably compared with the early days of his career.
Speaking exclusively to IANS, Angad acknowledged that television often requires actors to work extended hours because daily shows have fixed telecast deadlines.
“I think television is like this. You have to work day and night, especially when there is a telecast problem. But if I compare it with the past, things are amazing now,” he said.
The actor recalled his experience while working on the popular show ‘Sapna Babul Ka… Bidaai’, saying there were no fixed working hours at the time.
“Today, there are timings. We shoot for around twelve hours. When we started ‘Bidaai’, there were no fixed timings. We would shoot for twelve, eighteen, or even twenty hours,” Angad said.
He noted that the situation has become more manageable, with shoots generally lasting around 12 hours and only occasionally extending by another hour or two because of telecast requirements.
“Now it is much more comfortable. Generally, it is around twelve hours, and if there is a telecast requirement, there may be an additional one or two hours. I think timings have improved a lot,” he said.
Angad also said actors joining daily television shows should understand the nature of the work before signing a project.
“My thinking is that if you are doing television and have signed a show, you should understand that it is a daily soap. That is how it works,” he said.
He added that approaching the job with the right expectations can make demanding schedules easier to handle.
“Whenever I sign a show, I understand what I am getting into,” the actor concluded.
Angad rose to prominence with his portrayal of Alekh Rajvansh in ‘Sapna Babul Ka… Bidaai’.
