Veteran actor Rakesh Bedi has raised concerns over the alleged adulteration of food, beverages and alcohol, calling for stringent punishment for those who compromise consumer safety for financial gain.
In a video shared on social media, Bedi spoke about the dangers posed by adulterated consumable products and questioned whether existing penalties are strong enough to deter those involved in the practice.
The actor argued that people who deliberately adulterate food, drinks and alcohol should face charges as serious as attempted murder, given the potential consequences for unsuspecting consumers.
Bedi said those involved in adulterating consumable products for profit were effectively putting the lives of several people at risk and called for stronger legal action against them.
The veteran actor has recently been using social media to express his views on various social and public-interest issues.
On the professional front, Bedi has been part of the entertainment industry for more than four decades. He recently appeared as Shakeel in the blockbuster film ‘Dhurandhar’.
His film credits include ‘Chashme Buddoor’, ‘Mera Damaad’, ‘Coolie No. 1’, ‘Gadar 2’ and ‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’.
On television, Bedi became a household name through shows such as ‘Shrimaan Shrimati’, ‘Yes Boss’, ‘Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain!’ and ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’.
