Singer-actress Demi Lovato is celebrating a full-circle moment as she returns to the world of Camp Rock with the upcoming third instalment, Camp Rock 3.
Lovato will reprise her much-loved role as Mitchie Torres and will also serve as an executive producer on the film. Sharing her excitement on Instagram, the actress posted a series of images from the film’s promotional campaign.
“The most full circle!!! So excited to watch the next generation of campers bring what we started to life in their own way. Incredibly proud to EP on Camp Rock 3 and bring Mitchie back (don’t miss the final jam) cheers to 18 years of knees haha!!!” she wrote.
The original Camp Rock premiered in 2008, with Matthew Diamond directing the film. It starred Lovato alongside Joe Jonas, Meaghan Jette Martin, Maria Canals-Barrera, Daniel Fathers and Alyson Stoner.
The story followed Mitchie Torres, an aspiring teenage singer who gets the opportunity to attend Camp Rock, a summer music camp.
The sequel, Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, arrived in 2010 and brought back Lovato, the Jonas Brothers, Maria Canals-Barrera, Meaghan Martin and Alyson Stoner. The film centred on Camp Rock’s rivalry with Camp Star, a new and well-funded music camp.
The upcoming third instalment will introduce a new generation of campers while bringing back familiar faces from the franchise.
In June, Nick Jonas praised the new cast, describing them as “absolute superstars” during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Speaking about his return as Nate Gray, Nick said the new film would introduce the franchise to a new audience through a fresh group of campers.
“They’re all absolute superstars. They’re going to be in arenas themselves very soon,” he said.
Nick also revealed that the Jonas Brothers will make a cameo in the film.
“Me and the brothers have a little cameo in it, which was so bizarre to be back at Camp Rock all these years later…. But it’s amazing. These kids, they just blew me away, and I think people are going to love Camp Rock 3,” he added.
