A 70-year-old woman was killed after a Mercedes and a Wagon-R collided in Delhi’s Narela area on Saturday morning, police said.
The accident took place around 8 a.m. near Himalaya Apartments in Mamurpur, Narela. Police reached the spot after receiving information and launched an investigation.
According to preliminary enquiries, the Mercedes and Wagon-R collided head-on. The impact pushed the Wagon-R backwards, causing it to hit a three-wheeler loading van parked nearby.
During the crash, Urmila, 70, wife of Satyanarayan and a resident of Mamurpur, became trapped between the vehicles. She suffered fatal injuries and died at the spot.
The Wagon-R driver sustained minor injuries and was provided medical assistance.
Police said a case under provisions relating to causing death by negligence and other relevant sections is being registered. The victim’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination, while further investigation is underway to establish the exact circumstances leading to the collision.
Officials said no gathering was reported at the accident site following the incident.
The crash has once again raised concerns over speeding and reckless driving in urban areas. In a similar incident on November 30, 2025, one person was killed and two others injured after a speeding Mercedes G63 allegedly hit three pedestrians near Ambience Mall in Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area.
The latest accident also recalls the May 2024 Pune Porsche crash, in which two software engineers were killed after a luxury car allegedly driven by a minor collided with their motorcycle in Kalyani Nagar. The incident triggered widespread debate over road safety, accountability and reckless driving involving luxury vehicles.
