Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said the country’s youth have the talent, energy and ability to confront every challenge facing India, but need the right platforms to channel their potential towards nation-building.
Adityanath was speaking at the launch of the ‘Tiranga Yatra with Youth’ in Lucknow under the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, organised to mark the 101st anniversary of the Kakori Train Action. He paid tribute to the freedom fighters who made the supreme sacrifice for India’s independence and urged young people to draw inspiration from their lives.
“The youth of our country is talented and is a symbol of energy. It has the capability to face every challenge that comes before the nation. There is a need to provide this youth energy with the right platform to move forward,” he said.
The Chief Minister said young people should be encouraged to go beyond conventional academic education and develop an understanding of the challenges confronting the country and society.
“It is with this spirit that Tiranga Yatras are being organised across the country by the BJP,” he said.
Referring to the anniversary of the Kakori Train Action, Adityanath said Tiranga Yatras were being organised across the country to honour those who sacrificed their lives for freedom. He also recalled the contributions of Dr Rajendra Prasad, Dr B.R. Ambedkar and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
He described the Tricolour as more than a national flag, saying it represents India’s national consciousness, development, heritage, honour and pride.
“The Tricolour is not merely the national flag; it is a symbol of the country’s simplicity, development and its honour and pride. It reflects India’s national consciousness and glory,” he said.
Adityanath said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, respect for India’s heritage and national symbols was being given priority. He said provisions had been made for strict punishment against those who insult the country’s heritage and great personalities.
“The tendency to insult the country’s heritage and its great personalities while living in India cannot be accepted,” he said.
He said the Tricolour strengthens patriotism, unity and national pride, while the campaign also seeks to familiarise young people with the history of India’s freedom struggle and the sacrifices made during it.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the 150th anniversary of the national song ‘Vande Mataram’, saying it was being sung across the country to mark the milestone. He described the national song and national anthem as important symbols of India’s national identity and called upon citizens to strengthen respect for both.
Uttar Pradesh BJP president Pankaj Chaudhary said Indians feel proud whenever they see the Tricolour flying and recalled the sacrifices of soldiers guarding the country’s borders.
He said the same flag inspires Indian sportspersons competing internationally, giving them the confidence to pursue even seemingly difficult goals.
“The Tricolour is a symbol of the energy of the beating hearts of 140 crore Indians and of India’s unity,” Chaudhary said.
Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, along with Chaudhary and several senior BJP leaders, office-bearers and workers, attended the programme.
The leaders appealed to young people and party workers to take the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign to every section of society and encourage citizens to hoist the national flag at their homes on Independence Day.
