Actor Sunny Deol, accompanied by his son Karan Deol, visited the Partition Museum in Amritsar on Sunday as part of the promotional campaign for their upcoming film ‘Batwara 1947’.
The father-son duo explored the historic museum during their promotional tour and viewed photographs documenting the events surrounding the Partition. Sunny later shared a glimpse of the visit on his Instagram Stories.
Punjab holds particular significance for ‘Batwara 1947’, which is set against the backdrop of the Partition and explores the human cost of violence, displacement and forced migration. The state has consequently become an important part of the film’s promotional campaign.
Sunny is set to undertake a road trip across Punjab, beginning in Chandigarh and covering Mohali and Jalandhar before concluding in Amritsar. The actor’s fondness for driving has added a personal dimension to the promotional journey, which also fulfils his long-standing desire to undertake an extended drive through the state.
The film’s team plans to cover three cities in Punjab in a single day, making the promotional tour an intensive campaign ahead of its release.
Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, ‘Batwara 1947’ features Sunny Deol alongside Shabana Azmi, Preity G Zinta, Ali Fazal and Abhimanyu Singh.
The film follows a family whose lives are transformed by the violence, fear and displacement of Partition. While depicting the trauma of communities being torn apart, the story also focuses on resilience, compassion and hope during one of the most turbulent periods in history.
The film reportedly remains banned in Pakistan. It also brings together Aamir Khan, A.R. Rahman and Javed Akhtar, who previously collaborated on the acclaimed film ‘Lagaan’.
Produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit, ‘Batwara 1947’ is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on August 14, 2026.
