Kishan, Tilak Power India to 90-Run Win Over Zimbabwe, Seal T20I Series

Harare, July 25, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Explosive half-centuries from Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma helped India secure a commanding 90-run victory over Zimbabwe in the second T20I at Harare Sports Club on Saturday, giving the visitors an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

Asked to bat first, India posted a massive 219/5, powered by Kishan’s blistering 81 off 44 balls and Varma’s unbeaten 60 off just 29 deliveries. Zimbabwe struggled in the chase and were bowled out for 129 in 17.5 overs.

The win also marked India captain Shreyas Iyer’s first T20I series victory as skipper. Left-arm spinner Abhishek Sharma played a key role with the ball, claiming 3/17 as India comfortably defended the huge total despite losing fast bowler Prince Yadav to a hamstring injury during the match.

Kishan dominated the Zimbabwe attack with aggressive stroke play, particularly through the mid-wicket and long-on regions, reaching his half-century in 33 balls before accelerating further. His innings included nine fours and two sixes.

Varma provided the late surge, scoring his fifty in 23 balls and adding an unbeaten 94-run partnership with Kishan for the fourth wicket. Rinku Singh contributed a quick 12, while Shivam Dube’s boundary in the final overs helped India cross the 210-run mark.

Zimbabwe’s chase never gathered momentum. Brian Bennett top-scored with 32 off 19 balls but fell while attempting a scoop shot against Shardul Thakur. Captain Sikandar Raza was dismissed for a duck, while India’s bowlers kept constant pressure on the hosts.

Prince Yadav picked up 2/10 before leaving the field injured, while Abhishek Sharma completed a strong bowling performance by taking three wickets. Shardul Thakur and Ravi Bishnoi also contributed with key breakthroughs.

With a 2-0 lead, India have sealed the series ahead of the final T20I.

Brief Scores:
India 219/5 in 20 overs (Ishan Kishan 81, Tilak Varma 60*; Brian Bennett 1/22) beat Zimbabwe 129 all out in 17.5 overs (Brian Bennett 32, Tadiwanashe Marumani 24; Abhishek Sharma 3/17, Prince Yadav 2/10) by 90 runs.
