Chandigarh, September 22, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

AAP Punjab Media In-charge Baltej Singh Pannu has alleged that increased Enforcement Directorate (ED) activity in Punjab, including its recent raid at the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA), is linked to the approach of the elections.

Pannu said the central agency had been making visits in Punjab for the past several weeks and claimed that its heightened activity was significant with only a few months remaining before the elections.

“The ED’s visits have been continuing for the past few weeks, with only a few months left for the elections. So, the ED is active. It means that the election process is going well because these days, the ED is a wing of the BJP,” Pannu said.

He alleged that the ED was increasingly being used as a political tool by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and linked the agency’s recent activity in Punjab to the approaching electoral process.

Pannu further claimed that the ED’s presence in a state or region had become an indicator of impending elections.

“Wherever elections are going to be held, the ED goes there first. Whenever the ED becomes active, everyone knows that elections are going to be held there soon,” he said.

His remarks came in the context of recent ED activity in Punjab, including the agency’s action at GMADA.

The allegations regarding the ED’s political role were made by Pannu as part of the AAP’s response to the agency’s recent activities. His statements represent the political position of the AAP and were not accompanied in the statement by evidence establishing that the ED’s actions were politically motivated.
