The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has constituted a four-member committee to conduct a detailed inquiry into a matter related to Sri Anandpur Sahib, SGPC president Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said on Tuesday.
The committee comprises SGPC executive member Baldev Singh Kaimpur, members Gurmeet Singh Booh, Bhai Gurbakhsh Singh Khalsa and Bibi Gurinder Kaur Bholuwala. SGPC secretary Balwinder Singh Kahliwan has been appointed as its coordinator.
Dhami said the SGPC was already conducting a departmental inquiry into the matter, while the newly constituted committee would examine all aspects and submit its report within 15 days.
He said all questions being raised by the Sikh sangat would be answered with facts after the committee submits its findings.
Referring to allegations made by a woman associated with Bahrain, Dhami said that in accordance with the decision of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, suspended additional head granthi Bhai Malkit Singh had been relieved of his services. He added that the resignation submitted through video by Bhai Amarjit Singh from his position as an SGPC member had also been accepted.
Dhami said he had no information about where the woman came from or who brought her to the institution. He said she had met him once or twice but had not told him about any alleged unethical conduct.
He maintained that had such a matter been brought to his notice, he would have taken action. Commenting on the discussion surrounding the matter on social media, he said there should be restraint and accountability, as opinions were being formed and judgments pronounced without establishing the facts.
Dhami said he was accountable to the sangat and that complete information would be shared transparently after the inquiry report. He also stressed that the sensitive matter should be handled fairly and that the police investigation should be impartial and transparent to ensure justice.
