Actor-dancer Raghav Juyal, who is set to make his Telugu film debut with The Paradise, has spoken about the distinctive passion for cinema he experienced while working in the Telugu film industry.
Raghav, who stars alongside Nani in director Srikanth Odela’s The Paradise, said the project gave him an opportunity to witness a level of respect and enthusiasm for filmmaking that left a lasting impression on him.
“I have realised one thing, which I want to show in my work and in my place, that people celebrate and respect cinema so much over there. I had tears in my eyes when I saw how they respect each and every technician. They respect even the sound engineer; each and every audience knew who he was,” Raghav said.
He added that the experience changed the way he looked at the filmmaking process.
“They don’t just come there to finish off their work. They are there to celebrate cinema. And that’s what I learned,” he said.
Raghav also credited The Paradise director Srikanth Odela, whom he affectionately calls “Srikanth Dada”, with having a significant influence on him. The actor plays Vikram Maalik in the film, which marks his entry into Telugu cinema.
The film also stars Mohan Babu, Kayadu Lohar, Sonali Kulkarni and Sampoornesh Babu alongside Nani and Raghav. The Paradise is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on September 24.
Before establishing himself as an actor, Raghav became widely known through dance reality television. Born and brought up in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, he rose to prominence with Dance India Dance 3, where he was known by the stage name “Crockroaxz” and became associated with his distinctive slow-motion dance style.
He subsequently became a popular television host, presenting several seasons of Dance Plus and also hosting shows including Rising Star and Dance Champions.
Raghav made his film debut with Sonali Cable in 2014 and went on to feature in ABCD 2, Nawabzaade, Street Dancer 3D and Bahut Hua Sammaan. His other film credits include Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan and Yudhra.
His performance as antagonist Fani in the 2024 action thriller Kill brought him wider recognition. He later appeared in the series Gyaarah Gyaarah and The Bads of Bollywood*.
With The Paradise, Raghav is now stepping into Telugu cinema, bringing his experience as a dancer, television personality and actor to a new film industry and audience.
