Ms. Nishu Sharma, a distinguished alumnus of the Department of Microbiology, College of Basic Sciences & Humanities (COBS&H), Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), has been conferred with the prestigious “Young Women Scientist Award.”
She received the honour from PAU Vice-Chancellor Dr. Satbir Singh Gosal and other esteemed officials at the 5th International Agri Conference on “Navigating Unique Trends in Agricultural Research, Innovation, Engineering, Nutrition, and Technology (NUTRIENT-2025),” held at Bhai Gurdas Group of Institutions, Sangrur.
The award, presented on February 21, 2025, was conferred after a rigorous evaluation by the Conference Award Screening Committee, recognizing her significant research contributions in the field of Microbiology.
Ms. Nishu Sharma completed her Ph.D. in 2019 under the mentorship of Dr. Urmila Gupta, Principal Scientist (Renewable Energy Engineering) cum Head, Department of Microbiology. Her research on “Characterization of Stress-Tolerant Microalgae Strains for Biogas Production” has been widely acknowledged for its innovative approach and impact in the field of sustainable energy and microbial biotechnology.
