Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi following a phone conversation between the two leaders during which they reviewed progress in the India-Israel Special Strategic Partnership and discussed the situation in West Asia.
“Thank you, my friend, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. Together we continue to strengthen the bond between Israel and India,” Netanyahu said in a post on X, responding to Modi’s message about the conversation.
The two leaders spoke on Thursday evening and took stock of developments in several areas of bilateral cooperation. They also exchanged views on the prevailing situation in West Asia.
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said Modi and Netanyahu reaffirmed their commitment to further expanding cooperation across various sectors for the mutual benefit of India and Israel.
“The two leaders agreed to remain in touch,” the PMO said.
The conversation comes against the backdrop of growing bilateral engagement between the two countries across strategic and economic sectors.
In February, Modi undertook a two-day State Visit to Israel at Netanyahu’s invitation, accompanied by a high-level delegation of ministers and senior officials.
During that visit, the two leaders recalled Modi’s landmark trip to Israel in 2017 and Netanyahu’s visit to India in 2018, describing the visits as milestones that helped establish a new phase of bilateral partnership.
The two sides noted significant progress in areas including emerging technologies, cyber security, agriculture, water management, healthcare, entrepreneurship, defence and security.
Modi and Netanyahu also agreed to take the relationship to a higher level by defining it as a “Special Strategic Partnership for Peace, Innovation and Prosperity”.
The latest phone call underscores the continued engagement between the leadership of India and Israel as both countries seek to deepen cooperation across multiple domains.
