Malerkotla Police have arrested three armed history-sheeters and recovered two country-made .32 bore pistols and six live cartridges as part of the ongoing ‘GANGSTRAN TE VAAR’ campaign against gangsters, illegal weapons and organised crime.
The arrested accused have been identified as Syed Sahmun alias Moon, son of Mohammad Mehraj, a resident of Garib Nagri on Eidgah Road; Mohammad Sameer alias Saji, son of Mohammad Skeel, resident near Eidgah Phatak on Imamgarh Road; and Mohammad Awais alias Bansri Wala, son of Abbas, resident of Mohalla Chuhatta, Malerkotla.
SSP Malerkotla Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh, PPS, said the arrests were made following credible information about the accused. The operation was planned by SP (Investigation) Ramandeep Singh Bhullar, PPS, and DSP (Investigation) Deepwinderpal Singh, PPS, and executed by a CIA Staff Mahorana team led by Inspector Harjinder Singh, along with ASI Lakhwinder Singh.
According to police, the team was conducting vehicle checking near the Ludhiana Bypass when it received information that the three accused, who were wanted in connection with an earlier firing case, were hiding near an electricity grid.
The police team immediately reached the location and apprehended the suspects.
During the operation, police recovered one .32 bore country-made pistol and two live cartridges from Syed Sahmun alias Moon. One .32 bore country-made pistol and two live cartridges were recovered from Mohammad Sameer alias Saji, while two live cartridges were recovered from Mohammad Awais alias Bansri Wala.
A case has been registered under FIR No. 235 under Sections 25/54/59 of the Arms Act and Section 112 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Police Station City-2, Malerkotla.
The three accused were produced before a court and subsequently sent to Central Jail, Patiala.
SSP Khakh said the accused have a history of involvement in cases related to illegal possession of weapons and firing.
He reiterated that the ‘GANGSTRAN TE VAAR’ campaign would continue with sustained and focused action against gangsters, illegal arms and organised criminal activities in Malerkotla.
