Malayalam superstar Mammootty turned 75 on Monday, with his son and actor Dulquer Salmaan marking the milestone with a heartfelt birthday tribute, calling his father his “safest place in the world.”
Dulquer shared a picture with Mammootty on Instagram and wrote, “My safest place in the world! Then. Now. Always. Happiest birthday Pa. Love you mostest,” along with hashtags celebrating his father and the milestone birthday.
Several prominent actors from the film industry also took to social media to extend their wishes to Mammootty.
Actor Mohanlal wrote, “Happy birthday dear Ichakka! Wishing you good health, happiness, and continued success always.”
Megastar Chiranjeevi also shared a birthday message, describing Mammootty’s journey and enduring passion for cinema as admirable. He wished the veteran actor good health, happiness and many more years ahead.
Actress Wamiqa Gabbi joined the celebrations, wishing Mammootty a happy birthday and describing him as a charismatic star.
The occasion also saw the makers of Mammootty’s upcoming film ‘Mela’ unveil its first-look poster. The project is the ninth production venture from Mammootty Kampany, the actor’s production banner.
The poster features Mammootty dressed in a black shirt and black mundu, holding a machete, setting an intense tone for the film.
Sharing the poster and title on social media, Mammootty wrote, “Presenting The Title & First Look Poster of Our 9th Production Venture #MELA Directed by Nithish Sahadev.”
‘Mela’ is directed by Nithish Sahadev, who previously helmed the Basil Joseph-led film ‘Falimy’. The upcoming movie will be distributed by Dulquer Salmaan’s production and distribution banner Wayfarer Films.
Vishnu Vijay, known for his work on ‘Bethlehem Kudumba Unit’, has been roped in as the music composer, while Jimshi Khalid, who worked on ‘Thallumaala’, is handling cinematography.
Interestingly, ‘Mela’ will be Mammootty’s second film with the title. He had earlier acted in K. G. George’s 1980s directorial film of the same name.
The latest ‘Mela’ adds another project to Mammootty Kampany’s growing slate as the veteran actor continues to remain active in Malayalam cinema.
