Veteran actor Jackie Shroff on Tuesday marked 31 years of Ram Gopal Varma’s acclaimed musical romantic drama ‘Rangeela’ by sharing memorable moments from the film on social media.
Jackie took to Instagram to post a video montage featuring iconic scenes from the 1995 film, which starred him alongside Aamir Khan and Urvashi Matondkar. He captioned the post, “#celebrating31yearsofRangeela.”
Directed by Ram Gopal Varma, ‘Rangeela’ was released in 1995 and became notable for its music composed by A.R. Rahman. It marked Rahman’s first Hindi film with an original score and soundtrack, following his earlier Hindi releases, which were dubbed versions of his Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu films.
The film revolves around Mili, an aspiring actor whose dream of becoming a star faces several hurdles when Raj Kamal, a popular actor, and Munna, her childhood friend, both fall in love with her.
Jackie Shroff, meanwhile, is part of Ahmed Khan’s upcoming comedy film ‘Welcome To The Jungle’, which features a large ensemble cast including Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty, Arshad Warsi, Paresh Rawal, Raveena Tandon, Disha Patani, Lara Dutta, Jacqueline Fernandez, Shreyas Talpade, Aftab Shivdasani, Mika Singh, Mukesh Tiwari, Zakir Hussain, Yashpal Sharma, Johnny Lever, Rajpal Yadav, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, Daler Mehndi, Tusshar Kapoor and Sayaji Shinde.
The film is loosely based on the 2005 American comedy ‘The Producers’ and the 2008 film ‘Tropic Thunder’.
‘Welcome To The Jungle’ also marks the ninth collaboration between Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal, who have reunited on screen after nearly 17 years. Their previous collaboration was Priyadarshan’s ‘De Dana Dan’.
Jackie Shroff made an uncredited appearance in ‘Swami Dada’ in 1982 before making his lead debut with Subhash Ghai’s 1983 blockbuster action film ‘Hero’. The film turned him into an overnight star.
He subsequently appeared in several successful films, including ‘Andar Baahar’, ‘Teri Meherbaniyan’, ‘Aaj Ka Daur’, ‘Karma’, ‘Izzat’, ‘Khalnayak’, ‘Ram Lakhan’ and ‘Parinda’, among others.
