Punjab Police conducted 558 raids across the state on Monday as the ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign entered its 230th day, arresting 311 individuals and taking preventive action against 225 others.
The raids were carried out at identified and mapped locations linked to associates of gangsters as part of the statewide campaign aimed at making Punjab a gangster-free state.
The campaign was launched by Punjab Police Director General Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026. Police teams from districts across Punjab have been conducting special operations in coordination with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF).
During the Day 230 operation, police arrested 311 persons and recovered two weapons. With these arrests, the total number of arrests under the campaign has reached 68,699.
Police teams also arrested five Proclaimed Offenders (POs) during the operation, besides taking preventive action against 225 individuals.
Punjab Police said citizens can anonymously share information about wanted criminals and gangsters, as well as provide tips related to crime and criminal activities, through the Anti-Gangster Helpline at 93946-93946.
Meanwhile, the police continued its anti-drug campaign, ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, which entered its 555th day. As many as 181 drug smugglers were arrested during the day, with police recovering 8 kg heroin, 7 kg ganja, 6.5 kg poppy husk and 397 intoxicant pills from their possession.
The total number of drug smugglers arrested under the campaign has now reached 77,590 in 555 days.
As part of its de-addiction efforts, Punjab Police also persuaded 13 individuals to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment on Monday.
