The State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (SV & ACB), Hisar, has arrested an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), Jagjit Singh, for allegedly accepting Rs 20,000 in bribe at the Gol Bazaar police post in Dabwali.
Head Constable Rakesh Kumar and Special Police Officer (SPO) and munshi Rajveer, both posted at the same police post, have also been named as co-accused in the case.
According to the bureau, the accused had allegedly demanded Rs 1.45 lakh from the complainant in exchange for providing protection to his friend Bablu and his family in connection with an FIR registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The FIR in question, No. 266 dated August 21, 2026, was registered under provisions of the NDPS Act. The complainant alleged that Rs 1.25 lakh of the demanded amount had already been paid, while the remaining Rs 20,000 was to be handed over subsequently.
After verifying the complaint, the SV & ACB team laid a trap on September 6. During the operation, ASI Jagjit Singh allegedly accepted Rs 20,000 from the complainant and subsequently handed the money to SPO and munshi Rajveer at the Gol Bazaar police post.
According to the bureau, Rajveer fled from the spot with the trap money, while the vigilance team arrested Jagjit Singh on the spot.
The bureau has registered FIR No. 31 dated September 6, 2026, under Section 308(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 7 and 7A of the Prevention of Corruption Act at the SV & ACB police station in Hisar.
The agency said further investigation is underway and the roles of the other accused are being examined.
