Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur has stated that the Punjab government is prioritizing to the development of villages, while inviting the Panchayats to support the efforts being made by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to transform the state into a ‘Rangla Punjab.’ She was addressing the newly elected Panches of the district Fazilka today, before administering the oath to them.
Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur announced in her address during the event at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Stadium that Department of Social Justice, Empowerment, and Minorities will provide a special grant of Rs 20 lakh for development works to those villages where the Scheduled Caste population is more than 50%.
She said that 40 villages in Fazilka are included in this scheme and the first installment of the grant will be released to these villages soon. She also mentioned that villages where elections were held unanimously will receive a special grant.
Calling for the strengthening of communities in the villages and the elimination of caste differences, she stated that Social Justice Empowerment and Minorities Department will provide a grant of Rs.5 lakh to those villages that construct a common cremation ground.
The Cabinet Minister stated that the state government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, will ensure that panchayats are not lacking funds for development works. Congratulating the newly elected Panches and Sarpanches, she emphasized that the Panches and Sarpanches play the most significant role in the development of every village, and that the people have reposed their trust in them.
It is now their responsibility to live up to that trust. She especially congratulated the women who were elected as Panch and Sarpanch on this occasion. During the event, the Cabinet Minister administered the oath to the Panches from the five blocks of the district.
On this occasion, Fazilka MLA Mr. Narinder Pal Singh Sawna, Jalalabad MLA Mr. Jagdeep Kamboj Goldi, Balluana MLA Mr. Amandeep Singh Goldi Musafir, and former Abohar MLA Mr. Arun Narang also extended their best wishes to the newly elected Panches.
On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Amarpreet Kaur Sandhu, SSP Varinder Singh Brar, District Planning Board Chairman Sunil Sachdeva, Additional Deputy Commissioner General Dr. Mandeep Kaur, SP Ramnish Chaudhary, SDM Kanwarjit Singh Mann, DDPO Gurdarshan Lal Kundal, along with officials from various departments and dignitaries, were present.
