Long queues and strong customer interest marked the first day of iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max sales in India on Friday, with buyers arriving early at Apple stores in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru.
Sales began at 8 a.m., drawing customers to outlets including Apple’s stores at Mumbai’s BKC and Delhi’s Select Citywalk in Saket. Several buyers said they had pre-booked their devices and reached the stores according to their allotted time slots.
“I am very excited and am buying the iPhone 18 Pro. I buy a new iPhone every year,” a Delhi customer said, recalling that he had been using Apple smartphones since the iPhone 4 in 2009.
Another buyer at the Delhi store purchased an iPhone 18 Pro Max 512GB for his daughter, who was unaware of the surprise. He said he had been using iPhones since 2008, starting with the iPhone 3G.
The launch also attracted customers from outside Mumbai. One buyer travelled from Gujarat and reached the store around 6 a.m. after visiting Lalbaugcha Raja. He said he had booked the iPhone 18 Pro for around Rs 1.64 lakh and highlighted features including the new camera shutter, a smaller Dynamic Island and the A20 processor. He also mentioned the Cherry Red colour.
A buyer from Surat said he travelled for five to six hours to purchase both the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, spending additional time waiting at the store.
“I have been emotionally connected with the iPhone for a long time. All iPhone users know that whether there is something new in the phone or not, getting the new phone on the first day matters,” he said.
Actor Vicky Kaushal also visited Apple’s BKC store as sales began.
In Bengaluru, customers similarly arrived before sunrise. One buyer who had been waiting since around 5:30 a.m. said improvements to the camera and artificial intelligence features were among the main attractions. He also praised the updated Siri experience.
Some buyers said they upgrade only when they see substantial improvements. A customer from Karnataka who arrived around 6 a.m. said he had moved from the iPhone 11 to the iPhone 13 and felt the latest model offered enough changes to justify an upgrade after five years.
