Gujarat will light more than 88 lakh lamps at over 18,500 locations across the state on Thursday as part of the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday, state minister and government spokesperson Jitu Vaghani said.
The ‘Aashirwad No Divdo’ programme will be held across Gujarat, with lamps scheduled to be lit at 7 p.m. alongside evening aarti at temples. Bhajan Sandhya, satsang and cultural programmes will begin from 6 p.m.
According to the programme details shared by Vaghani, the celebrations will cover municipal corporation and municipality areas, with 169 major programmes, 169 additional programmes and 18,508 local programmes planned across the state.
In the 17 municipal corporations, 17 major city-level programmes are expected to draw around 2.76 lakh people, while another 17 programmes, including Bhajan Sandhya events, are expected to attract around 4.75 lakh participants. Local programmes will be held at 12,481 locations across 287 municipal corporation wards, with an estimated participation of 15.95 lakh people.
In municipality areas, 152 major city-level programmes have been planned with an expected participation of around 5.25 lakh people. Another 5,740 locations will host local programmes, while 152 additional programmes, including Bhajan Sandhya events, are expected to draw around 5.75 lakh people.
The programmes will be organised at temples, lakes, rivers, public squares, main gates, milk dairies, sites featuring statues of eminent personalities, circles, town halls, gardens and Agricultural Produce Market Committees (APMCs).
Senior political leaders will attend programmes at various locations. In Ahmedabad, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel will participate in the event at Kankaria Lake. Assembly Speaker Shankar Chaudhary and state BJP president Jagdish Vishwakarma will attend the programme at Ambaji.
Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi will be present at Olpad in Surat, while Union Minister C.R. Paatil will attend the event at Navdi Ovara. Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will participate in the programme at Hirasar in Rajkot.
Vaghani will attend the event at Bor Talav in Bhavnagar, while Minister of State Nimuben Bambhaniya will be present at Karchaliya Para.
Alongside the lamp-lighting events, a special public welfare campaign will be conducted throughout the month to help people access benefits under schemes such as Ayushman Bharat, grain distribution and farmer welfare initiatives.
Vaghani appealed to people across Gujarat to light lamps at their homes and participate in the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, while reaffirming the resolve of ‘Viksit Bharat @ 2047’.
