The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has emerged as the largest party in the Baran Municipal Council elections in Rajasthan, with 32 of its 60 candidates winning, prompting party National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal to describe the results as a sign of a “wind of change” sweeping across the state.
Kejriwal congratulated AAP office-bearers and workers for the electoral performance and said the party’s victory in Baran, described by AAP as the home area of Rajasthan Education Minister Madan Dilawar, showed growing support for the party.
Taking to X, Kejriwal said the “jhadu” had swept Baran and claimed that people across Rajasthan were looking for an alternative to the BJP and Congress.
“For the past few days, videos showing the poor condition of government schools in Rajasthan have been continuously going viral on social media. There is a lot of anger among the people. The Congress and BJP have ruined the entire state. People are fed up with the Congress-BJP duet. Now, people have a strong alternative in the form of the Aam Aadmi Party,” he said.
AAP National Media In-charge Anurag Dhanda also welcomed the results, saying the party had secured a clear majority in the Baran Municipal Council.
“The jhadu’s victory on 32 out of 60 seats has made it clear that Arvind Kejriwal’s ideology is spreading to every corner of the country,” Dhanda said.
According to the results shared by AAP, the party also won five seats each in the Pidawa Municipality and Jhalrapatan Municipality, while one AAP candidate won in the Jhalawar Municipal Council.
The party projected the results as evidence of its expanding political footprint in Rajasthan and said voters were increasingly looking beyond the traditional BJP-Congress contest.
