Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Monday announced a seven-member core committee for the party’s Haryana unit, with the leadership saying the organisational structure would be expanded further in the coming weeks.
SAD senior leader and Haryana affairs in-charge Balwinder Singh Bhundar said the committee was finalised by Badal in consultation with Haryana unit president Harkesh Singh Mohri.
The committee comprises Baldev Singh Kaimpur, Raghujit Singh Karnal, Ravinder Singh Rana, Sukhsagar Singh, Harbhajan Singh Masana, Harpal Singh Ahirwan and Prithipal Singh Jhabbar.
Bhundar said additional members of the core committee would be announced in the next phase.
“We will all work together as a team to strengthen the party in Haryana,” Bhundar said, claiming that the SAD was receiving support from different sections of society in the state and that people were joining the party voluntarily.

He said the party would focus on strengthening its organisation at the grassroots and work for the progress, prosperity and welfare of the people of Haryana.
The SAD Haryana unit will hold a meeting in Kurukshetra on September 19, where the party’s future organisational roadmap will be discussed. A 101-member working committee is also scheduled to be announced at the meeting.
Following the formation of the working committee, the party will undertake organisational appointments at the district level and subsequently at the circle level, Bhundar said.
He added that the party would seek to bring people from all religions and castes into its fold, stressing that the SAD’s organisational approach would rise above religious and caste divisions.
“Our Gurus have given us the message of universal brotherhood, and everyone in the Akali Dal is equal,” Bhundar said.
He also said the party would work to regain the organisational strength it had enjoyed in Haryana in the past and that its leaders and workers would make sustained efforts towards that goal.
