Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has revealed that the launch of the 18th season of the quiz-based reality show Kaun Banega Crorepati has given him a much-needed break from an intense work schedule that often stretched from “7 a.m. to almost 7 a.m. the next day”.
The veteran actor, who regularly shares personal reflections on his blog, apologised to his followers for being unable to maintain his usual blogging routine due to his demanding professional commitments.
“Apologies for this wierd numbering and the missed Blogs ..The work hours and the intensity of work just did not give me time to get to connect .. so am extremely sorry!” he wrote on Tumblr.
He added that his working hours had extended through entire days, leaving little time for sleep, food or other personal commitments.
“Work hours were stretching from 7am in the morning to almost 7 am the next day .. days of 24 hrs work .. commitments are commitments and must have preference over any other .. time sleep food et al,” Bachchan wrote.
The actor said the beginning of KBC 18 had provided him with a brief pause and expressed hope of returning to regular communication with his fans.
“But a break today as KBC 18th season with Sony does a start .. and one can only pray .. and pray .. I shall be with you in the regularity as before,” he wrote, adding that he needed to reorganise his routine before resuming regular interactions.
Bachchan has also adopted a striking pop-culture avatar for the new season, featuring in the rap song Sochna Padgea.
Kaun Banega Crorepati is the official Hindi adaptation of the Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? franchise. Bachchan has hosted the show for most of its run, except for its third season, when Shah Rukh Khan took over as host.
The show follows the franchise’s multiple-choice format, with contestants answering questions and using lifelines when required.
The 18th season premiered on Sony Entertainment Television on August 10.
