Two Drug Smugglers Arrested in Ferozepur With 1.572 Kg Heroin, 309 Gram ICE: SSP Bhupinder Singh

Punjab Police have arrested two alleged drug smugglers and recovered 1.572 kg of heroin and 309 grams of ICE drug from their possession in Ferozepur, police said on Monday.

SSP Bhupinder Singh said the accused have been identified as Suraj, a resident of Tibbi Kalan in the Mamdot area, and Johnson, a resident of Fattu Wala village in the Kulgarhi area.

According to the SSP, police had received information about the alleged involvement of the two men in drug smuggling. Acting on the input, a police team laid a trap near the grain market in the cantonment area.

The two suspects were intercepted and searched, resulting in the recovery of 1.572 kg of heroin and 309 grams of ICE drug, police said.

A case has been registered against the accused under Sections 21, 61 and 85 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Kulgarhi police station. The case has been registered as FIR No. 153.

SSP Bhupinder Singh said investigators were tracing the accused persons’ backward and forward links to identify others involved in the alleged drug network.

“More arrests are expected,” the SSP said.

The police investigation is underway.
