Actress Akanksha Chamola has addressed the controversy surrounding her comment on reality show “Lock Upp 2”, where she said she wanted her “dog” as a visitor instead of her estranged husband Gaurav Khanna.
Clarifying her remark, Akanksha said she was missing her comfort zone during her time on the show and wanted the presence of people who made her feel emotionally secure, including her parents and her pet.
“I really wanted to have my comfort zone. Obviously, I am getting separated from Gaurav. I would not find him coming to the show to be a comforting thing for me,” she told the media.
She added that while Gaurav may have chosen to appear on the show, his presence would not have provided the emotional comfort she was seeking at that point.
“He must have come as per his own wish, but for me, it was not a comfort zone. I wanted someone close to me. I wanted my parents and, yes, I wanted my dog,” she said.
Akanksha had earlier revealed on the show that she and Gaurav Khanna had been living separately for a year and were moving towards divorce. During her stint on the Netflix reality show, she also spoke about her sexuality and revealed that Gaurav was aware of her being bisexual.
Hosted by Riteish Deshmukh and Farah Khan, “Lock Upp 2” featured several known personalities, including Shilpa Shinde, Shreya Kalra, Akanksha Chaudhary, Yogesh Rawat, Sunita Ahuja, Ram Kapoor, Shivangi Joshi, Harshad Chopda, Sufi Motiwala, Dheeraj Dhoopar, Madhuri Jain Grover, Riyaz Aly and Varun Yadav, popularly known as Laila.
The second season featured 14 inmates, two jailers and a six-week competition format in which contestants had to complete tasks to earn in-game currency needed for basic requirements such as food, supplies and privileges.
Shreya Kalra emerged as the winner of “Lock Upp 2”, taking home the trophy and a prize money of Rs 1 crore after defeating Shivangi Joshi and Yogesh Rawat in the final race.
