AAP Punjab Calls Pradhan’s Resignation Victory of Students, Demands Education Reforms

Chandigarh, July 25, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab on Saturday welcomed Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation, calling it a victory for students and youth who had been protesting against alleged examination irregularities and paper leaks.

AAP leaders said the resignation reflected the power of youth movements and demanded comprehensive reforms in the education and examination system to restore public confidence.

Earlier in the day, AAP organised ‘Thali Bajao, Tanashah Bhagao’ demonstrations across Punjab against what it described as anti-student policies of the BJP-led Central Government. Party ministers, MPs, MLAs, office-bearers and workers participated in protests held across districts, seeking accountability over examination-related issues.

Punjab Cabinet Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said Pradhan’s resignation was a “powerful indictment of youth power” and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to accept it immediately.

“Finally, BJP has bowed to the will of the youngsters. Hope this leads to real reforms — revamping the education system, fixing exam leaks and bringing sweeping changes for students,” Cheema said.

AAP MP Malvinder Singh Kang termed the development a landmark victory for students, youth and citizens who believe in democracy. He congratulated protesters who, he claimed, continued their movement despite facing police action and pressure.

Kang said the resignation alone was not enough and called for an overhaul of the examination and recruitment system to ensure transparency and prevent future paper leaks.

He alleged that attempts were made to suppress the student movement but said the protesters remained united and continued their demand for justice.

AAP Punjab said it would continue raising issues concerning students and youth until reforms are introduced to make the education system more transparent, fair and accountable.
