Punjab Police on Saturday carried out 583 raids across the state as part of its ongoing ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign against gangster networks and their associates, arresting 353 individuals and taking preventive action against 244 others.
The operation marked the 186th day of the state-wide campaign launched by Punjab Police chief DGP Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026, with the objective of making Punjab free from gangster activities. Police teams from all districts, in coordination with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), have been conducting targeted operations against identified gangster-linked locations.
During Saturday’s action, police recovered three weapons and arrested 13 proclaimed offenders. With these arrests, the total number of persons arrested under the campaign has reached 52,895.
Punjab Police also appealed to citizens to share information about wanted criminals, gangsters and criminal activities through the Anti-Gangster Helpline number 93946-93946. The department assured that information can be provided anonymously.
Meanwhile, the police continued their anti-drug campaign ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, which entered its 511th day. As part of the drive, 68 drug smugglers were arrested and police recovered 481 grams of heroin, 40 kg of poppy husk, 567 intoxicant pills and ₹1,040 in drug money.
The total number of drug smugglers arrested under the anti-drug campaign has now reached 74,485. Police teams also facilitated de-addiction and rehabilitation support for 11 individuals as part of efforts to combat drug abuse in the state.
