Uddhav Thackeray Calls Pradhan’s Resignation ‘Broader Victory’ for Youth Movement

Mumbai, July 25, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Shiv Sena-UBT chief Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday described Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation as a “broader victory” against what he termed the government’s high-handedness, while asserting that the youth-led movement over the NEET paper leak controversy had achieved a significant breakthrough.

Addressing a joint press conference with Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) president Raj Thackeray, Uddhav said the resignation was not the only objective of the movement but represented a larger message from the country’s youth.

“A single cockroach brought down the dictator,” Uddhav said, congratulating youth leader Abhijit Dipke, young protesters and their families for their role in the campaign.

He said the movement had broken a “decade-long atmosphere of fear and pressure” and demonstrated the collective strength of young Indians. Uddhav alleged that the government had ignored public concerns for years and said the latest development was a response to that attitude.

Raj Thackeray confirmed that the planned Tiranga March on Sunday would proceed as scheduled, with participants gathering at Shivaji Park and marching towards Siddhivinayak Temple in Mumbai. He said the event would now be a celebration of the youth movement’s success rather than a protest.

Uddhav also raised concerns over the police action during demonstrations, alleging that protesters, including women, were subjected to force. He demanded an inquiry into the alleged use of force and sought clarity from the Union Home Ministry on cases registered against protesters.

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena-UBT leader Aaditya Thackeray said the Tiranga March would also seek answers over the alleged crackdown on young protesters and demanded withdrawal of cases filed against those involved in the demonstrations.
