2nd ‘Green Nagar Kirtan’ Reaches Sultanpur Lodhi From Flood-Affected Villages; Sant Seechewal Distributes 5,600 Saplings

The second “Green Nagar Kirtan”, dedicated to the 556th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji,, reached Sultanpur Lodhi after commencing from Aahli Kalan village. This is the second Nagar Kirtan organized in flood-affected areas, led by Rajya Sabha member Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal, who has been emphasizing to protect Punjab’s increasingly polluted environment.

Under the divine canopy of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and led by the Panj Pyare, the Nagar Kirtan passed through 11 villages of the Mand region, concluded in the evening at Gurdwara Gurparkash Sahib. The Nagar Kirtan was warmly welcomed by Manager Avtar Singh, Head Granthi Harjinder Singh, and numerous sevadars at Gurdwara Shri Ber Sahib, where Sant Seechewal Ji and the Panj Pyare were honored with siropaos.

During the Nagar Kirtan, Sant Seechewal lauded the people of the Mand region, describing them as symbols of courage, patience, and contentment. He said that even after enduring two months of devastating floods, the residents were rising again with strength and determination. Many farmers have already begun sowing wheat in their fields.

He highlighted that though the floods had completely destroyed crops and livelihoods, the unity and resilience of Punjabis have helped the community recover remarkably fast. However, he noted that many farmers still need assistance, as their fields remain filled with silt and debris.

During this second Green Nagar Kirtan, Sant Seechewal distributed 5,600 saplings as prasad. Drawing inspiration from the teachings and life of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, he reminded the congregation of the Guru’s love for nature and his timeless message to protect air, water, and earth through a simple, harmonious lifestyle. The Nagar Kirtan covered a 15-kilometer journey along the Dhussi embankment of the Beas River.

Villagers along the route welcomed the Nagra Kirtan with deep devotion and arranged langar and refreshments. Throughout the Nagar Kirtan, the Mand region appeared completely divine colors of Guru Nanak’s spirit, with devotees singing Gurbani hymns as they walked behind the Nagar Kirtan.

Farmer Balwinder Singh Sarupwal expressed heartfelt gratitude, saying that without Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal Ji’s leadership during the floods, the region would not have revived so beautifully. He added that the people of the Mand area will never forget the selfless service rendered by the sant. the floods had devastated crops across vast stretches of farmland.

Students from Sant Avtar Singh Yadgari Senior Secondary School also participated in the Nagar Kirtan, carrying placards promoting environmental awareness and the message of “Save the Environment.” Children from the Sant Avtar Singh Gatka Akhara showcased their traditional Sikh martial art skills.
