Punjab Police conducted 557 raids across the state on Thursday as the ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign entered its 261st day, targeting identified and mapped locations linked to associates of gangsters.
The campaign, launched by Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026, aims to make Punjab free from gangster activities. Police teams from all districts have been carrying out coordinated operations with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab.
On Day 261, police arrested 251 individuals and recovered one weapon. With this, the total number of arrests made under the campaign has reached 77,071.
Police teams also took preventive action against 187 individuals and arrested seven Proclaimed Offenders (POs) during the latest operation.
Punjab Police has urged citizens to share information about wanted criminals, gangsters and other criminal activities through the Anti-Gangster Helpline at 93946-93946. The information can be shared anonymously.
Meanwhile, the police continued its anti-drug campaign, ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, for the 586th day. A total of 107 drug smugglers were arrested during the day.
Police recovered 5.6 kg heroin, 5 kg opium, 4.2 kg ganja, 648 intoxicant pills and Rs 500 in drug money from those arrested.
With the latest arrests, the total number of drug smugglers arrested under the campaign has reached 83,457 in 586 days.
As part of its de-addiction efforts, Punjab Police also persuaded 31 individuals to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment on Thursday.
