India’s Ambassador to China, Vikram Doraiswami, on Thursday paid obeisance at the 125-year-old Khalsa Diwan Gurdwara Sahib in Hong Kong and met members of its Parbandhak Committee.
Doraiswami appreciated the committee’s longstanding service, dedication and contribution to culture and philanthropy, saying its work had brought pride to the Indian community in Hong Kong.
According to the Consulate General of India in Hong Kong, the Ambassador also assured the community of the Consulate team’s full support.
During his maiden visit to the Indian mission in Hong Kong, Doraiswami also interacted with officers and staff at the Consulate General. He underlined the importance of providing timely and efficient consular services and visited the Consular Section to interact with applicants.
He encouraged the consular team to remain proactive in improving the experience of applicants seeking consular services.
Doraiswami also addressed an event titled ‘A Conversation on India Today’ at Asia Society Hong Kong, where he highlighted India’s economic growth, foreign relations and development priorities. He interacted with the audience and later met Asia Society Hong Kong Centre Chairman Ronnie Chan.
India’s Consul General in Hong Kong Rajesh N. Naik welcomed Doraiswami during his visit to the mission.
On Wednesday, the Ambassador met representatives of the India Association Hong Kong and the Forum of Indian Professionals Hong Kong (FIPHK) at the Indian Consulate General.
Discussions focused on community welfare, cultural activities and ways to deepen engagement between India and Hong Kong. Doraiswami appreciated the organisations’ longstanding efforts to serve the Indian community and their broader contribution to Hong Kong.
