Quetta, October 8, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has strongly condemned an explosion in Balochistan’s Panjgur district that killed two children and injured three others, describing the incident as an alleged example of what it calls collective punishment and state violence against civilians.

The remarks came after the blast in Gowargo tehsil on Tuesday. According to local accounts cited in reports, the children were playing in the Fateh Ali Bazaar area when they found a suspicious object hanging from a tree. The object reportedly exploded after they tampered with it.

Locals alleged that the explosives were fitted to a quadcopter operated by Pakistani forces. The allegation has not been independently established.

The deceased children were identified as nine-year-old Arman and 10-year-old Amaal. Nine-year-old Shahid, seven-year-old Zahid and 12-year-old Noorullah were reportedly injured in the explosion.

“Targeting innocent children is unacceptable under any circumstances,” the BYC said, alleging that the incident reflected what it described as a broader policy of fear, violence and collective punishment in Balochistan.

The rights group called for an immediate end to what it described as military operations and human rights violations against Baloch civilians.

It also demanded accountability for the deaths of the children and called for protection of the rights of people in Balochistan, including their rights to justice, freedom and political participation.

The BYC further alleged that repeated civilian casualties had not received an adequate response from human rights organisations or the international community. It called for an investigation into the incident and accountability for those responsible.

The Panjgur incident comes amid reports of civilian casualties in Pakistani military drone and quadcopter operations in Balochistan.

Last month, local media reported that four young men were killed and two others injured in a drone strike on a group that had gone for a picnic in the Balicha area of Tump in Balochistan’s Kech district.
