Punjab Police and the Border Security Force (BSF) have recovered 20.298 kg of heroin allegedly dropped by drone inside Indian territory during a joint search operation in Ferozepur district.
Ferozepur SSP Bhupinder Singh Sidhu said the recovery was made following specific intelligence inputs, after which Punjab Police personnel and the BSF launched a joint search operation in agricultural fields at Padhri village near Border Out Post (BOP) Pachharian.
During the operation, the teams recovered 20 packets of heroin weighing a total of 20.298 kg. The packets were found concealed in a jute sack, the SSP said.
The search teams also recovered 12 blocking rods, two motorcycles, one plier and two iron wires from the area.
In addition, three pairs of silver anklets were found packed in a jeweller’s pouch. According to the wording printed on the pouch, the anklets had been manufactured by “Ali Waqar Jewellers”, located in the Main Bazaar of Kasur, Pakistan.
SSP Sidhu said the police were investigating the case to establish the full network involved in the alleged cross-border smuggling operation.
He further said the suspects had been identified and that a trap had been laid to apprehend them.
