Dabur India on Thursday said its core manufacturing operations in Nepal have not been adversely affected by the devastating floods that have hit the Himalayan nation, with its facilities continuing to operate normally despite difficult weather conditions.
In a regulatory filing with the stock exchanges, the company said its manufacturing units in Kathmandu and Birganj, key locations for its Nepal business, remained operational.
Dabur said some disruption was expected at the distributor level but maintained that the impact would be limited. Operations of only three distributors are expected to be affected by the floods, the company said, adding that the overall impact on its Nepal business is likely to be negligible.
The disclosure comes as businesses across the region assess the impact of the floods and related disruptions on supply chains, distribution networks and local operations.
The devastating flash floods that struck Nepal on Wednesday have caused widespread destruction and resulted in more than 300 deaths, while up to 800 people have been reported missing. The US Geological Survey attributed the disaster to glacier collapse and debris flow.
Nepal Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal said on Thursday that at least 300 Indian nationals, most of them pilgrims travelling to Mansarovar, remained missing following the disaster.
Dabur shares closed 1.53 per cent higher at Rs 386.20 apiece on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Dabur reported a 15 per cent increase in consolidated net profit to Rs 591 crore for the quarter ended June 30, compared with Rs 514 crore in the corresponding period of the previous financial year.
The company’s revenue rose 10.5 per cent to Rs 3,764 crore from Rs 3,405 crore in the year-ago period. EBITDA increased 10.9 per cent to Rs 741 crore from Rs 668 crore.
The company reported an EBITDA margin of 19.7 per cent, compared with 19.6 per cent in the corresponding period of the previous year.
