The Enforcement Directorate (ED) continued searches at the residences and properties linked to Karnataka Public Works Department Minister Satish Jarkiholi for the second consecutive day on Thursday as part of a probe into suspected foreign investments and financial transactions.
The searches are being conducted at 18 locations across Bengaluru, Belagavi, Gokak and Goa, including properties linked to Jarkiholi, his relatives and associates.
According to ED officials, the searches continued until around 2 a.m. before resuming at 6 a.m. on Thursday. Jarkiholi was questioned by officials at his government-allotted residence on Crescent Road in Bengaluru, where he was asked to provide clarifications. Searches were also continuing at his private residence in Dollar’s Colony.
In Belagavi, ED teams continued searches at four locations, including Jarkiholi’s residence, the home of his brother-in-law and Excise Commissioner Y. Manjunath, and premises linked to associates. Officials also questioned Manjunath’s wife over alleged foreign investments.
In Gokak, searches at Jarkiholi’s residence continued in the presence of his daughter and Congress MP Priyanka Jarkiholi and other family members. Searches were also underway at the residence of Jarkiholi’s associate, Dr Girish Sonalkar. CRPF personnel have been deployed to provide security at the locations.
Jarkiholi remained at his government residence in Bengaluru through the night and was seen waving to supporters who gathered outside to protest the ED action.
The searches are part of an ongoing investigation into suspected financial transactions and foreign investments involving properties and transactions linked to Jarkiholi and people associated with him.
The ED teams are expected to continue the searches through Thursday.
